Before and After Colonic Preparation Tips

Before starting a session with Slimming Colon Hydrotherapy, in Las Vegas, you should review this preparation page. Doing so will ensure that your experience aligns with your expectations. A good dose of preparation goes a long way in achieving the results you’re after!

If you have a question about a certain aspect of colonics, i.e. colon cleansing or hydrotherapy sessions, please reach out to us at 702-793-7549. Our professionally trained staff is always happy to assist you.

The Basics of Preparing for Colon Hydrotherapy

A day to two days before your session is scheduled, we recommend that you eat a light organic diet consisting of vegetables, grain, fruits, and natural juices.

Drinking 5-8 glasses of water a day will also help you avoid overeating and ensures that you’re well-hydrated. Don’t exceed 8 glasses of liquids a day since it’s been scientifically proven that drinking too much water is not as beneficial to the body as we’d like to think. You’ll also want to avoid sugar or caffeine that companies sometimes sneak into their drinks; so be sure to read the labels.

On the day of your session, it’s recommended that you limit your water intake and do not eat within 2 hours of arriving at our office. Meeting this requirement will make your colonic as comfortable and effective as possible. However, if you have a diet restriction that requires you to eat a snack or continue to drink liquids, just let us know in advance.

Once you arrive to our office our team will help you get ready. You’ll have a chance to empty your bladder before we start your session. Afterwards, we give you gown to change into. Once that’s done we guide you on how to use the LIBBE system (more about this can be read on our other pages).

Foods to Avoid Before Your Session

You’ll want to avoid alcohol, caffeinated & carbonated drinks, as well as any drink or food that contains sugar. You will also need to avoid gluten (wheat and flour products), fatty or fried food, junk food, and candy.

Avoiding food that is known to produce gas in the bowels is also recommended. Some of those food are listed below:

  • Onions
  • Beans
  • Broccoli, cauliflower, and brussels sprouts
  • Soy products
  • Cabbage

Recommended Foods to Eat Before and After Your Session

To help your body prepare for a colonic, and to make it easy on your body afterwards, we recommend the following foods/drinks:

  • Fruits and snacks
    • Bananas
    • Oranges
    • Blueberries
    • Grapes
    • Nuts and seeds (pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds)
    • Apricots
  • Food
    • Vegetarian dishes (red meat is hardest to digest; however, fish & poultry is less difficult for the body if a vegetarian meal is not desired)
    • Potatoes
    • Organic vegetables (green leafy vegetables are perfect for gut health)
    • Whole grains (brown rice, etc)
    • Basmati Rice or Quinoa
    • Miso soup
  • Drinks
    • Chamomile tea
    • Chai tea
    • Peppermint tea
    • Probiotic drinks

Keep in mind that after you complete your session it may take two to three days to have another bowel movement. Since your stomach was clear before the session, and since the colon hydrotherapy removed built up waste from the lower intestine, you may experience temporary sensitivity to food.

This means that you should follow the recommendations above and speak with our team to validate any other foods/drinks you might want to eat after your session. Sensitivity to food is a normal outcome of not eating as much as you’re used to for a while. It’s like fasting for a day and then eating a meal and a half worth of food. So to avoid any discomfort in the first two to three days, it’s recommended to pace yourself.

Ensuring that you continue to eat a non-GMO/organic diet will also go a long way in maintaining your colon health.
